Area of Expertise
Root canal therapy is a dental procedure that involves the removal of the infected or damaged pulp tissue from the root canal system of a tooth. A root canal is performed to treat severe tooth decay or injury that has caused an infection or inflammation within the tooth. The procedure is usually done under local anesthesia to ensure that the patient experiences minimal pain and discomfort during the treatment. Once the pulp tissue has been removed, the root canal is cleaned and disinfected to prevent the growth of any bacteria. A filling is then placed in the canal and the tooth is sealed to prevent any further infection. In some cases, a crown may be placed over the tooth to restore its strength and function. While root canal therapy is often associated with discomfort and pain, modern techniques and advances in technology have made the procedure more comfortable and successful than ever before.
